THE FEAR RETURNS to the Old Lansing School in Lansing, NC, 15 minutes from West Jefferson, 40 minutes from Boone/Blowing Rock, and 2.5 hours from Charlotte and The Triad. Admission is only $7. Our frights are weird, creepy, and kid-friendly.

Created by ScareMaster Brian Babcock, HellBillyHigh is taking over the old Lansing School, an 75+ year old school building filled with the ghosts of children and teachers past. Numerous children and teachers died or were killed here over the school’s history, and the presence of their spirits has been documented by paranormal researchers.

These haunted souls return to form in this fantastic old school, stalking the halls in their never-ending search for peace. Will they confront you in the maze of doom? Will they try to steal your soul in the devil’s classroom? Will the make you smoke in the boy’s room—where the boys never leave? Come discover these true spirits for yourself—then dance the fear away in hell’s disco, where the dead and the living become one...

With fire dancers, fresh new frights, fog, fear, and freaks like you’ve never seen, HELLBILLY HIGH is guaranteed to make you wish you never made the teacher mad... Email Haunt Owner

  • Email Verified Nice scares, creepy looking actors

I and friends visited Haunted Hellbilly High and we had a great time there. It had some nice scares, props and creepy looking actors. The chainsaw guy scared the shit out of us. The actor with the skeleton costume was good too. Now I am thinking of bringing my GF along.

  • Email Verified Not very scary

I found at least couple of actors least interested in scaring people..one of them was on the phone. Very long queue and inside ambiance wasn’t very scary. The ticket rate was less; that is the only good thing I see here.

  • Email Verified Lots of evil spirits and monsters

We had ultimate scary fun and it was a nice time spent together. The haunted souls at the Old Lansing School gave everyone a terrifying night experience. Each room in the school had creepy themes backed with presence of evil spirits and monsters. The place had a definite scary outlook for a haunted attraction. It was great time here and we are coming back.

  • Scares galore

This was definitely one of the better haunted houses I've been to. Based at an old school with a history of being haunted due to certain gory events itself is a hair raising thought. The haunts were reasonably scary for a person who does not get easily scared. It was huge premises and very well organized. Scares galore. You never know where it comes from. The actors were well trained and made sure we were alarmed at least a bit. Must see!

  • Email Verified Lot of walking...nothing else

Never coming back to this place again. It was total waste of time and money. We did get to do a lot of walking but there were very few actors who tried to scare us and they rushed us everything.

  • Email Verified Low quality scares

Just ruined my Halloween celebration. The old school building was not as scary or exciting as it is made out to be. The scares were below par for most part. We were a group of 8..but we were seated in different parts of the room. I will not recommend.

  • Email Verified Easy on the wallet

Superb scary haunt. The sets were awesome with lots of creativity. It was complete with steep slopes, stairs, twists and turns. It was great experience visiting a haunt in an old school setting and trying to discover new scares and getting frightened to the core. Easy on the wallet too. Can’t wait to visit again.

  • Email Verified Perfect family friendly haunt

We had a great time at Haunted Hellbilly this Halloween. It does not have very high intensity scares. But it is perfect if you have kids with you. The ticket rates were not so high either. Check it out.

  • Less intense scares

I would say that it is not too scary. But you won’t be disappointed either. It has some decent scares, and it startled my wife couple of times. The makeup and costumes were good enough. The chainsaw guy scared me. Check it out if you want a less intense haunt this Halloween.

  • Email Verified Scary abandoned school building

We had an amazing time! Spine chilling, bone raising experience at the Hellbilly High. It was an abandoned school building and believed to have real spirits. Walking the entire building, running down the winding stairs was exhilarating yet scary. It was our first time but we will be back again.

  • Email Verified Entertaining

Well put together for a homemade haunted house. Honestly not worth $7. Would recommend changing the price to $4 or $5. They really did a great job making you feel like you were actually in a high school. Could definitely use more props and actors. Overall, a nice addition to Ashe County's haunted attractions.
