  • Email Verified Totally worth it

Love it totally worth it. The scenes were excellent and the theme was magnificent. Scares were well executed and honestly, we were screaming throughout.

  • Good frightening time

Had a frightening good time! It wasn’t our regular date night and they made sure we left feeling exasperated. The mansion bore a weary haunted look. You feel a spine-chilling fear as you enter the mansion. It was so well constructed to create the right ambience.

  • Email Verified Good ambience

The haunted house of Shocktober was one heck of a place. You will really be scared to bits. It was whole lot of crazy stuff in there. I liked the ambience that was fear evoking. The actors need a special mention. They had a great way of throwing up surprises how much ever you try to avoid it. It was a great outing with my friends and I definitely recommend it to anyone who love some scary fun.

  • Complete darkness...

It was a such a big mansion with 32 rooms. Investigation was in complete darkness and that was really scary to start with. We got to record some movements and sounds that occurred out of the blue and it terrified us. Will come back for this.

  • Email Verified Plenty of scares...

Shocking revelations is what it is all about Shocktober. The paxtor mansion is fantastic. It amazed us and was super scary. The actors were professionals. They handled all the situations so neatly and with ease. The scares were plenty and all were intense.

  • Email Verified Loved the building!

I thought the building itself was awesome. Not scared at all but enjoyed walking throughout this old building! I just can’t seem to find a haunt that scares me. This is for a good cause, so glad I went!

  • Email Verified Great time exploring

I have heard a lot about the paranormal investigations at Paxton manor. It really intrigued me and decided to go for the all night ghost hunt with a couple of my friends. The idea in itself was scary. There were two dozen people that night exploring the mansion with an investigation equipment. I have never used such a thing and only seen it in movies.

  • Email Verified A solid haunted house attraction

Went on a Sunday evening (10/21/18) around 8:30pm. Was expecting a long wait but there was no wait to check in and only had to wait in line for an hour. The decorations and actors inside were very good and well done. Some of the rooms were scarier than others but those darn trap doors/sliding windows throughout the hallways definitely get you! I got a few solid scares but overall was expecting it to be scarier considering other reviews I had seen (and I tend to scare/jump easily). I don’t think the waiver is necessary but I can understand the reasoning behind it. It took about 10-15 minutes to go through the main house (Paxton Manor) and then immediately after waited maybe 15 mins before entering the Basement (Carnival of Souls), which was about another 7-10 minute walkthrough. Many people have said the basement is scarier than the main house but I found them to be about the same scare-wise, though our group of 4 was mostly by ourselves going through the basement which made it a little scarier. All in all, it was definitely fun and I would recommend if you are fan of haunted attractions. Haven’t been to other similar attractions in the area other than Cox Farms’ Fields of Fear so I can’t really compare or say that this is the “best” in the area but it is fun for what it is. Also can’t say the original price point ($40 onsite, $35 online) is very fair considering what it is but it’s NOVA so what can you expect. Luckily our group of 4 had a Groupon that saved us $15 each, which made it more reasonably priced. I would probably return again next year!

The attention to detail and the incredibly scary nature of this haunt is AWESOME! It's definitely not for the faint of heart. The basement..oh the basement. That's just plain terrifying! Plus - they have an awesome concession with beer, wine, pizza, sandwiches, baked goods. Definitely worth every penny. Fabulous experience.

  • Email Verified Great Scare!

This is the best haunted house I've been to. As a fan of haunted houses and horror movies I find that's I'm not easily scared. Shocktober definitely proved me wrong. I was terrified! The actors are very professional and wear extremely convincing and realistic makeup as well as scary costumes. The mansion is huge and serves as an eerie setting for the event. I'm certainly going again next year.

  • Email Verified Not Handicapped friendly

Visited Shocktober in Leesburg with my wife tonight. We chose this haunted house based on the fact that this facility deals with Disabled Individuals on a daily basis. Based on this, my wife thought it would be okay for a mildly handicapped individual with limited mobility issues. This was not correct. Three quarters of the house was fine and not a problem. I was laughing myself crazy as my wife screamed her head off. Then all of a sudden there was a point where you had to crawl to get through followed by an area where you have to walk through air bags that are so tight that not even light gets in. Both of these were extreme challenges to my mobility. On top of this, there are areas where they purposely reduce the size of doorways and you have to squeeze through. Even the non-handicapped people were talking about how they didn't "know how they were going to squeeze their fat bellies through." Nowhere that we read on their website stated "not handicapped friendly" though they do warn people who are sick, pregnant or have heart issues that it may not be advisable to enter. By the time we exited, I was in serious pain from having to push through the air bags. When we came out, the staff asked me if I needed water and had me sit down - I looked that bad off. I was also advised that I probably did not want to visit the "Well of Souls". their other attraction. I decided not to visit this attraction but in a way was not happy because I had paid for it. When I asked the staff why they didn't warn me about the house as a handicapped individual, they just stated they thought "your cane was a prop" despite not being in costume or dressed up. I complained to the ticket booth and was asked "Didn't they warn you at the entrance?" I responded that I was only asked to do a 15 second countdown and nobody stated anything to me or my wife despite the cane and the limp. Plus I told them what their staff stated to me. Surprised that a place that deals with Disabled Individuals on a normal basis would not make a "handicapped friendly" haunted house and did not warn about it not being handicapped friendly. Though the staff was friendly and did apologize.
