Ball's Bluff Battlefield
Leesburg, VA 20176
Now a regional park and national cemetery, Ball’s Bluff was once the site of an 1861 Civil War battle. 54 soldiers are buried here, making it the third smallest national cemetery, and some of them are said to still wander the park. Apparitions of soldiers in uniform have been reported by multiple visitors over the years. Tours are offered on weekends from spring through autumn.

In the early 1990’s, I was a teenager, I visited the park during the day with my friend. We rode our bikes up there. Back then you could drive a car right up to the cemetery. We left our bikes by the cemetery and walked the trails down to the water. We sat on a log and were talking when suddenly we heard someone walking the trail but we couldn’t see anyone. It sounded to be so close. When we arrived, I noticed there were no cars so we thought we were the only ones there. We took off running back up the trail to our bikes. While we were running, I could hear the footsteps behind us running also and it was as if I could hear breathing in my left ear. We jumped on our bikes and left. Never looked back. There were still no cars in the parking area....

Visited this battlefield yesterday for the first time - There was only one other car in the parking lot and the driver was inside. Went down the trail to the small cemetery and a little beyond - I heard faint whispering or chattering while in the woods. I didn't see anyone else around. My father heard it as well!

My boyfriend and I were walking our dog. We were reading all of the history on the information plaques. While walking in the open field I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was on my shoulder on the same arm my boyfriend was holding. And there were no tree's around that an acorn could of fell on me. Although this doesn't sound like a big deal, there was no other explanation of it! It was a direct push on my upper shoulder.
There's a lot of nice hiking there as well. Next time we are going to bring our camera to see if we can catch any "extra's". Will report back!
