Ball's Bluff Battlefield
Leesburg, VA 20176
Now a regional park and national cemetery, Ball’s Bluff was once the site of an 1861 Civil War battle. 54 soldiers are buried here, making it the third smallest national cemetery, and some of them are said to still wander the park. Apparitions of soldiers in uniform have been reported by multiple visitors over the years. Tours are offered on weekends from spring through autumn.

Im from Richmond Va, and I’ve recently bought a house in Arlington Va, but the house wasn’t finished renovations for at least 3 Months. So I stayed in an Airbnb in Loudoun County for about 90 days. I came across this beautiful place after two weeks of me being in Loudoun. For weeks I would take a morning stroll here. Even though I had heard the place was haunted, it didn’t really bother me much. The only thing that frightened me was the frequent snake sightings but that was really all. Right during my last week of staying in Loudoun, as the renovations on my home had been completed, I decided to take one last stroll though here like usual, and I arrived around 11am, there was a guy who also arrived at the same time as me, a guy who I had seen plenty times before, he goes fishing down by the water quite often. My car and his truck were the only two cars there. I got out of my car first and began walking to head towards the cemetery part, and he gets out and does the same. He’s just a few feet behind me with his fishing equipment, Right as we walk into the entrance of the field, you can hear what sounds like a disembodied scream/ cry. Initially I thought to myself, that has to be some animal of some kind, I have been to this place over a dozen times and never heard this noise before, and I can tell the fishing guy heard it as well, he slows down and begins to look around. I try not to act startled and kept walking slowly, and he did as well, as soon as we kept walking, the scream/cry got louder and sounded like it was getting closer. Me and the fishing guy both stopped at the same time, we both looked at each other at the same time , locked eyes and turned around and began speed walking back to our cars, it’s like we wanted to say something but we were both too scared. He and I got into our cars and left. And that was my last experience at this place. I always heard this place was haunted but i honestly just thought they were just a bunch of hearsay

In the early 1990’s, I was a teenager, I visited the park during the day with my friend. We rode our bikes up there. Back then you could drive a car right up to the cemetery. We left our bikes by the cemetery and walked the trails down to the water. We sat on a log and were talking when suddenly we heard someone walking the trail but we couldn’t see anyone. It sounded to be so close. When we arrived, I noticed there were no cars so we thought we were the only ones there. We took off running back up the trail to our bikes. While we were running, I could hear the footsteps behind us running also and it was as if I could hear breathing in my left ear. We jumped on our bikes and left. Never looked back. There were still no cars in the parking area....

Visited this battlefield yesterday for the first time - There was only one other car in the parking lot and the driver was inside. Went down the trail to the small cemetery and a little beyond - I heard faint whispering or chattering while in the woods. I didn't see anyone else around. My father heard it as well!

My boyfriend and I were walking our dog. We were reading all of the history on the information plaques. While walking in the open field I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was on my shoulder on the same arm my boyfriend was holding. And there were no tree's around that an acorn could of fell on me. Although this doesn't sound like a big deal, there was no other explanation of it! It was a direct push on my upper shoulder.
There's a lot of nice hiking there as well. Next time we are going to bring our camera to see if we can catch any "extra's". Will report back!
