Black Horse Inn
Warrenton, VA 20187
The Black Horse Inn takes its name from the Black Horse Cavalry, a Confederate unit which led a successful charge against the Union in the First Battle of Manassas. It was originally built in the 1850s with additions constructed in the early 20th century. After recent restoration work, the current Black Horse Inn took form, containing ten rooms each with a private bath. Visitors have reported several paranormal happenings, including a ghostly tapping that sounds like dancing and the apparition of a laughing nurse. One of the resident ghosts is evidently a bit of a Grinch, as he has been known to knock over Christmas trees.
