Julep’s
Richmond, VA 23219
Julep’s is a trendy Richmond restaurant specializing in Southern cuisine and pulling from influences in Atlanta, Charleston, New Orleans, and Savannah. The building was not always an eatery, however; back in 1826 it was a weapons shop owned by James McNaught. One day an apprentice gunsmith named Daniel Denoon got into a spat with McNaught and was shot dead on the premises. Denoon’s spirit seems to have remained inactive for the better part of two centuries, but in 2003 the restaurant owners began a remodeling project which knocked down the staircase Denoon fell down when he died. In its place a storage closet was built, and ever since strange noises and thumping sounds have been heard emanating from the space.

Reviews
I walked into the restaurant, not knowing it was haunted at all. My dad and I, were finding a good place to eat for his 61st birthday. We searched online for place near Richmond Virginia, and found Juleps. When we arrived it turned cold, it was around 70 degrees outside, fairly warm. I asked my father about it, he felt the exact same. We went inside, I got the Shrimp and Grits, he got the same thing to. Thirty minutes in, a man in a grey platter jacket, brown pants, black mustache, and brown eyes, is sitting at a empty table, nothing near him, and everyone ignoring him. He was slightly transparent which threw me off. I asked my dad, you see that man? He did not see anyone, and by the time I looked back no one was there.
