The Lee-Fendall House was built in 1785 by the Lee family, 37 members of which lived here from the time of its completion to 1903. It was also owned by the Downham family from 1903 to 1937, John L. Lewis from 1937 to 1969, and quartered hundreds of Union soldiers between 1863 and 1865. Today it is a nationally registered Historic Place and operates as a museum open to the public. Visitors have reported seeing a female apparition in period dress, and another woman who appears on the back steps with her child. The sound of an antique telephone has also been heard ringing.
