The Weems-Botts House is part of the Historic Dumfries collection of museums and historic places. It is open for tours several days a week, though patrons may find more than historic artifacts and trinkets when they walk in! Visitors say that the old house is haunted, reporting books that fly off the shelves and a bedroom closet door that opens itself up every day.

The house originally served as the vestry for the Quantico Church. The museum was restored by Historic Dumfries, Inc. in 1975 as part of a bicentennial U.S. restoration project. A gazebo was also built during the bicentennial to commemorate William Grayson, one of Prince William County's most respected citizens.

The museum includes the landmark Weems–Botts House on the corner of Duke Street and Cameron Street and the Weems–Botts Museum Annex on 3944 Cameron Street. The museum shows the history of Dumfries, Virginia's oldest chartered town, and two people who lived in the house: Mason Locke "Parson" Weems, and attorney Benjamin Botts.

The Nugents haunting experience

We had several paranormal experiences happen during the tour including seeing orbs that happened while taking pictures. My daughter felt something touch her butt while on the stairs. My husband was the only one that got wet standing under a tree where he had said he needed to go to the bathroom (that was really creepy). Water literally was pored on him!! I also saw an orb go into my husbands knee as my husband was complaining his knee was hurting. This place is amazing!! I would love to spend the night here with my family or friends. Thank you for the tour.
