By the Side of the Road Bed and Breakfast
Harrisonburg, VA 22801
By the Side of the Road’s main building has a long history, having been built a short time after the Revolutionary War and used as a makeshift hospital during the Civil War. When Union soldiers burned down much of the surrounding area in 1864 this brick building would not catch fire, prompting soldiers to commandeer it as a haven for the wounded. Visitors have noticed some ghostly activity in the home, mostly in the form of strange sounds and doors opening or closing by themselves. It is thought that these ghosts are the restless spirits of Civil War soldiers who came to the hospital.

Reviews
My wife and I spent a weekend there. The morning we were checking out, we made a comment -- something of the effect that we hadn't seen any ghosts. As on cue, the horizontal latch on door next to the bed raised up, and the door opened a few inches. I can't guarantee that this incident was paranormal, but it was quite interesting.
