Built in 1771, the King’s Arm Tavern has thrived in Colonial Williamsburg for over two centuries, providing guests with food, drink, and live music. The tavern is also said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman named Irma, who is believed to have died in a fire early in the building’s lifespan. Rumor has it that the fire was started by a candle, so Irma has a tendency to blow out candles in the building. She has also been known to perform helpful tasks, and restaurants workers allegedly say good night to her every night before closing.
