Built between 1794 and 1797, Belle Grave Plantation was the home of Major Isaac Hite, Jr., a Revolutionary War veteran and brother-in-law to President James Madison. It was also used as a headquarters by US General Phillip Sheridan during the Civil War in the Valley Campaign of 1864, and was at the center of the Battle of Cedar Creek. It is said to be haunted by a woman in mourning, appearing in a black dress with a veil over her head. She stands in the window of the highest room and is thought to be the ghost of a past resident.

  • Creepy Lady Mourning

There is this lady in a black dress and a white vail that writes in blood on the biggest window. I can see it from my bedroom window.
