Thornrose House - Real Staunton Haunt
- 501 Thornrose Avenue
- Staunton, VA
This 1912 Gregorian-style brick home is now a Bed and Breakfast conveniently located across from Gypsy Hill Park. The scenic location and home-cooked breakfast may be reason enough for most people to stay the B&B, but ghost hunters will find the home particularly interesting. One of the bedrooms, called “Caroline’s Room,” is said to host numerous apparitions.
Yes! Lots of activity.
We chose Carolines Room on October 31st 2015. I did not sleep. We turned in around midnight. My husband was in the shower, I immediately heard a couple of thumps. I did not think much about it until the thumps turned into skipping as if children were in the house. From a few footsteps to half a dozen at times. This went on through out the entire night. I wrote down times and what I had heard. My husband heard most of these as well. He would fall back to sleep but honestly, I was just too scared. We have stayed at many B&B's for our Halloween tradition, by far Thornrose has had the most activity. Beautiful home and hosts but nevertheless, it definitely has activity.Posted 11/1/15
